In Jia village, about 12km from the district headquarters of Roing is the simple Jia Organic Eco Resort. Comprising of bamboo and metal cottages and camping tents, the resort is set in a clearing amidst organic tea gardens and maize, ginger and mustard fields. Beyond are lush forests and high mountains. Expect comfortable rooms, with even the tents furnished with mattresses and blankets.

Explore the Mehao Wildlife Sanctuary

Mehao Wildlife Sanctuary makes for an interesting place with its altitudes ranging from 400 meters to 3,568 meters above sea level. The 281.5 sq.km of dense forest is home to various wild animals including tiger, leopard, jackal, Himalayan black bear, Indian porcupine, wild dog and many more. Some of the snakes seen here include Himalayan cat snake, cobra and python. Mehao Wildlife Sanctuary has a wide range of herbs, shrubs, flowers and plants. It has some of the most beautiful natural lakes including Mehao Lake, which in itself is a favourite tourist destination. It is a great place for wildlife enthusiasts.



Visit the Mehao lake

Mehao Lake, at an altitude of 3,000 feet, is situated 14 km away from Roing in Mehao Wildlife Sanctuary. Set amidst the dense green forest with beautiful flowers and plants, the 4 sq km water body attracts wild ducks in great numbers and is a photographers delight. Geologists claim that this lake is Oligotrophic as there is no fish in the lake. Boating facilities are available here. You could go trekking in the forest here and immediately notice that not many of us have ventured in this territory.
