day 1

VISIT NAMERI NATIONAL PARK AND CAMP AT LALIMOU CAMPSITE

Today you visit the Nameri National Park that is home to a diverse species of plants and animals. The guided jungle walks through thick forests and dry riverbeds are great to spot some beautiful birds and plants. They also have a 3-hour rafting tour in the Jia-Bhorolli river in the south-east part of the park which is a great way to spot animals as they come to the river for water. It is advisable to carry some packed food should you need it while out in the jungle. You can spend the night at the beautiful Lalimou campsite just 5 km from the national park. CAMPSITE RECOMMENDATION: SAPOI TEA ESTATE. NOTE: NAMERI NATIONAL PARK IS 225 KM OR 5 HOURS FROM GUWAHATI.

Day 2

VISIT EAGLENEST WILDLIFE SANCTUARY AND CAMP AT BOMDILA MONASTERY

You head towards Arunachal Pradesh to visit Eaglenest Wildlife Sanctuary. The pristine forests with dense canopies in shades of yellow, orange, and green are a stunning sight you see at this protected land. You can book a safari to watch the birds and different types of animals by paying minimum fees per traveller and vehicle. The money goes toward helping the Bugun tribe that live in this region. You can camp at Bomdila Monastery for the night surrounded by nature and positive vibes. It can get quite cold here due to the altitude so we recommend pulling out some warm clothes. CAMPSITE RECOMMENDATION: BOMDILA MONASTERY GROUND. NOTE: EAGLENEST IS 124 KM OR 4 HOURS FROM NAMERI NATIONAL PARK. Non residents require permits to travel in Arunachal Pradesh. Inner Line Permit: Indian nationals need to apply for ILP (Inner Line Permit) for INR 100 / person. If you need it on the same day they charge INR 400 / person. Protected Area Permit: Foreign tourists need to apply for PAP (Protected Area Permit) for USD 50 / person that has to be paid in Indian currency. The permits are available online and with local tour operators in the region and around.

Day 3

EXPLORE SANGTI VALLEY AND CAMP AT LETRO HOMESTAY

On your third day, you proceed to majestic Sangti Valley. You can hike to beautiful locations that open up to welcoming views of the snow-clad mountain peaks, depending on which season you visit. The small streams, bridges to cross rivers, rocky landscapes wrapped in valleys are a breathtaking view as you calm the inner self. You can camp at Letro homestay in a small village outside Dirang to get away from the crowd. The homestay is decorated by a river, open farms with free animals, a kitchen farm in the backyard for fresh organic produce and plenty of open space for everyone. The host couple is really nice and you can ask for meal preferences. They also motivate you to try your hand at preparing their local dishes. CAMPSITE RECOMMENDATION: LETRO HOMESTAY. NOTE: SANGTI VALLEY IS 50 KM OR 2 HOURS FROM BOMDILA.

Day 4

EXPLORE AND CAMP AT TAWANG

The road to Tawang will take you through thick forests and crystal blue water lakes in Se La Pass which is the second-highest motorable pass in the world. Tawang is a place of historic importance, natural beauty and solitude. You can visit the Tawang monastery, Tawang war memorial and the Giant Buddha statue. At the craft centres in Tawang, you can find beautiful masks, hand-woven carpets, jewellery and local dresses. For the night you can put up at a local homestay or free camp at a location of your choice. CAMPSITE RECOMMENDATION: FREEDOM CAMPING. NOTE: TAWANG IS 141 KM OR 5 AND A HALF HOURS FROM SANGTI VALLEY.

Day 5

EXPLORE AND CAMP AT TAWANG

For your second day in Tawang, you can visit the Madhuri lake and Nuranang waterfalls. Sangetsar lake and PTSO (Pankang Teng Tso) lake are great locations to visit too. One can spot snow pigeons and the musk deer in their natural scenic elements. The streets are filled with interesting stories all around with a strong Tibetian presence. You can see the monks silently go about their daily routines and getting work done in the traditional robes. You have an option between booking a hotel or homestay and freedom camping for the night.
