day 1

DRIVE TO DIMAPUR AND HOMESTAY AT LONGCHEN

You begin the journey by driving from Guwahati to Dimapur. On the journey, you will come across breathtaking views of mountains and valleys, and it is advisable to take a few stops to refresh while on the road. On reaching Dimapur you can visit the local attractions like the Kachari ruins, Diezephe craft village and Chumukedima village. You can spend the night at Longchen homestay which is a beautiful property with exquisite Naga culture integrated into every element. CAMPSITE RECOMMENDATION: LONGCHEN HOMESTAY. NOTE: DIMAPUR IS 280 KM OR 6 HOURS FROM GUWAHATI. Make sure your ILP (Inner Line Permit) is taken care of for the Dzukou valley trek.

Day 2

EXPLORE AND CAMP AT DZULEKE

You can head toward Dzuleke, India’s first green village, that is setting up an extraordinary example for everyone in terms of sustainability with regard to its dependence on natural resources. The thick forest covers in the region are home to some of the most pristine natural environments in the country. On reaching Cloudline Treehouse you can hike to some interesting locations and catch some fish for your night meals. Fishing at such heights is usually rare, let alone making a delicious meal off it. The hosts are very interesting and polite people who grew up in this region and you can chat with them about the life of people from the tribes in Nagaland. CAMPSITE RECOMMENDATION: CLOUDLINE TREEHOUSE. NOTE: DZULEKE IS 89 KM OR 4 AND A HALF HOURS FROM DIMAPUR.

Day 3

BEGIN THE TREK TO DZUKOU VALLEY AND CAMP AT JAKHAMA

Make sure to begin your trek early to enjoy the sunrise and heartwarming views of Jakhama village. The Yedikha campsite managed by ChaloHoppo is definitely one of the best places to camp. With traditional Naga style levels of rice fields and a stunning view of the valley in front, you can take part in interesting activities and games with your fellow campers. An acclimatization walk is necessary to condition your physical self to the height and atmosphere. Make sure you try the rice beer made by the locals but go slow on it. It is best to give yourself some rest for the long trek on the following day. CAMPSITE RECOMMENDATION: YEDIKHA CAMPSITE. NOTE: JAKHAMA IS 33 KM OR 2 HOURS FROM DZULEKE.

Day 4

TREK TO THE TOP OF DZUKOU VALLEY

Today you will begin one of the most beautiful treks in Northeast India, the Dzukou Valley trek. The guided trek by the ChaloHoppo team is super interesting as they walk you through every step of the trek and give you all the information you need. Make sure to carry your warm clothes as you would be camping at the top of the valley. NOTE: THE TREK IS ROUGHLY 4 HOURS LONG, SUBJECTIVE TO WEATHER CONDITIONS.

Day 5

TREK BACK TO JAKHAMA

After a wonderful and memorable trek to the Dzukou valley, you will return to Jakhama. You can spend the day with the people you have bonded with sharing music and stories. You will spend the night at the campsite. NOTE: THE TREK BACK TO JAKHAMA IS OF THE SAME DURATION.
