10-15Situated around 6 km from Cherrapunjee, the Mawsmai Caves are a major crowd puller and leave tourists spellbound. These limestone caves have the distinction of being the only caves in Meghalaya that are well lit and enable tourists to enjoy the natural formations in awe. Though the caves are long, only a distance of 150 meters is open for tourists, while the other section is closed. The stalactites and stalagmites caves have innumerable forms, shapes and sizes inside leaving one to imagine as many life forms as possible. This magnificent natural wonder is the handiwork of years of natural abrasion and underground water.
The seven sisters waterfalls symbolize the seven states in northeast namely Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Nagaland, Tripura, Mizoram and Meghalaya. The waterfall is segmented into seven parts over the cliff and the view is spectacular. To catch waterfall at its utmost potential one must visit during the monsoons. The panoramic view of the seven waterfalls running off the cliff is adorned by beautiful clouds that fill up the frame amidst the lush greenery. You can sense all the travellers thinking about where all that water is coming from and how much waer the planet actually holds!
Now, this is a place almost nobody knows about or goes to but the location is pristine and you'd probably be the only ones there. It's located a little south to the Mawsmai caves and the seven sister waterfalls and shouldn't be that tough to find. Make sure you mark the location on offline maps to avoid getting lost which doesn't really happen but it's better to be prepared and not miss out on any travel time.
